About
Jada Braxton is a Richmond-born flutist, educator, and arts administrator, and has been playing flute for over 15 years. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance and French and a Master of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Business Analytics from Virginia Tech. She also completed graduate-level coursework at the Université de Montréal (UdeM), where she studied with Jocelyne Roy. Her flute teachers and mentors also include Amanda Peters, Barbara Gregory, and Elizabeth Lantz.
Jada has performed extensively with ensembles including the Virginia Tech Philharmonic Orchestra, Virginia Tech Wind Ensemble, UdeM Wind Ensemble, Richmond Philharmonic Orchestra, Commonwealth Winds, and Richmond Pops Band. She served as Principal Flute of the Virginia Tech Philharmonic for five years and has performed a wide range of orchestral and chamber repertoire. She also participated in the world-record-breaking “Stars and Stripes Forever” performance with 239 piccolo players for the Capital Wind Symphony’s 35th anniversary season at Capital One Hall!
Jada believes the role of a teacher is not simply to tell students what to play, but to help them develop the curiosity, confidence, and independence to make their own musical choices. She strives to create an accessible and supportive environment where students can learn at their own pace, ask questions, make mistakes, and develop their own musical voice. She also served as an Administrative Intern for the 2026 Mid-Atlantic Flute Convention.
Outside of music, Jada enjoys playing fun video games like Kirby, baking sweets (chocolate chip cookies are her favorite!) for her family, and playing with Velvet, her cute and fluffy pomsky mix. Jada hopes to share her love and joy of playing the piccolo and flute with anyone around her (guess which one is her favorite)!
