Join us from August 8–17, 2025, for the inaugural GreenSpring Music Festival, a vibrant 10-day celebration dedicated to the timeless beauty and excitement of live classical music. This extraordinary event will unite world-class artists, emerging talents, and music lovers from around the world for an unforgettable cultural experience. Enjoy a captivating array of performances showcasing the highest standards of artistry in the peaceful, historic, and breathtaking setting of Frederick County, Maryland!
Attendees will have the unique opportunity to engage with star performers and emerging talents, witnessing the creative process firsthand through behind-the-scenes glimpses as well as through small performance gatherings and public concerts. Performances will be held at the historic St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Utica (circa 1769), and St. John’s Reformed Church, Creagerstown (circa 1834). Additional venues include the picturesque Links Bridge Vineyards and charming house concerts, including performances in a lovingly restored, two-story log home dating back to 1736.
Central to the Festival is the Festival Academy, a cornerstone of our initiative to cultivate the next generation of musical leaders through daily performances, intensive rehearsals, and personalized coaching. Since 1999, GreenSpring has been a beacon of musical excellence and innovation, inspiring audiences and shaping the careers of emerging artists on the world stage.

Our History - A Rich Heritage of
Music and Education
Acclaimed as "a national cultural treasure" by Caryl Tratten Fischer, the Cultural Arts Director for the U.S. Department of State, GreenSpring Foundation (formerly HARPS Foundation) was established in 1999 as a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to music education and performance. With a focus on community outreach, education, mentorship, and social justice through music, GreenSpring serves students and families throughout Frederick County, Maryland, and the Metro Richmond, Virginia region.
GreenSpring is unique in its approach, combining top-tier professional music instruction and premier performance ensembles with innovative music-based community initiatives. Our ensembles, educational programs, and outreach efforts aim to engage individuals and audiences of all ages and backgrounds, fostering a dynamic arts community.
Since our inception, GreenSpring has been committed to providing the highest standard of music education for youth and delivering exceptional performances to the Frederick and Richmond communities. Recognized as a national model for music education and celebrated internationally for our artistic excellence, GreenSpring continues to thrive with a team of talented leaders and passionate educators. Our organization includes 22 faculty members, 400 students, and over 4,000 alumni. Our alumni have successfully pursued professional music careers with full scholarships to prestigious conservatories and universities, while also developing skills crucial for success in all areas of life.
The GreenSpring Music Festival is a natural evolution of GreenSpring’s work. Building upon 25 years of successful concert series and educational programming, the Festival will enhance our commitment to creating unforgettable musical experiences. Our events have attracted over 17,000 visitors — a testament to the growing recognition of Frederick County as a premier destination for music enthusiasts. It embodies our mission to unite our community through music, providing a platform for showcasing talented musicians and engaging the public in a celebration of art and culture. This festival highlights the impactful work GreenSpring has achieved over the years and underscores our commitment to nurturing artistic talent and fostering a vibrant musical community.
