GreenSpring programming has been serving Frederick County, Maryland, since 2001.

Our Frederick County programming takes advantage of the unique and naturally beautiful settings of rural Frederick County to offer experiences that combine immersive music education opportunities, arts and cultural access, as well as free community performances with renowned artists from all over the globe. 

  1. GreenSpring Music Festival and Festival Fellows Academy - The GreenSpring Music Festival, entering its 2nd year in summer 2026, is a dynamic 10-day celebration of live classical music, uniting professional musicians from around the world with promising young talents and dedicated music lovers. Audiences enjoy a diverse range of 10 performances, enhancing cultural appreciation and engagement. At the heart of the festival is the Festival Academy, an initiative dedicated to preparing the next generation of musical leaders. Through daily performances, intensive rehearsals, and personalized coaching, the Academy provides emerging artists with opportunities to refine their craft and prepare for launching their careers on the international stage. https://www.greenspringmusic.org/greenspringmusicfestival 

  • All concerts are presented for free to the community.

  • Tuition options available along with scholarships to offset costs for students and encourage participants. The six 2025 Festival Fellow students each attended on full scholarships valued at $2,500, exemplifying GreenSpring’s commitment to accessible arts education.  Fundraising is underway to support the 2026 Fellowship program. 2. GreenSpring Concert Series  - The Concert Series features ten monthly performances, showcasing renowned musicians and emerging stars in the music world. All concerts are presented for free with a free-will donation. Our concerts build a strong sense of community around a shared love of music. We often include post-concert receptions that foster conversation and connections among concertgoers and artists. These gatherings, along with other smaller events and concerts, enrich the cultural landscape and create a welcoming space for collective musical enjoyment and personal connection. https://www.greenspringmusic.org/calendar

Maryland Summer Harp Institute - offers a week-long summer intensive program for students featuring workshops, masterclasses, private lessons, ensemble rehearsals, and three free public concerts, including an opening concert presenting professional harpists, a student solo night, and a final “Harp Extravaganza” student harp ensemble performance. The Institute takes place in a historic and rural setting in Frederick County, designed to connect students to nature and each other — which is especially meaningful in today’s increasingly digital world. The Maryland Summer Harp Institute is located in beautiful Frederick, Maryland. Young harpists from across the nation travel to Frederick for the annual Maryland Summer Harp Institute Week, which is a special time of learning, music, and friendship. Every year, young harpists and faculty are eager to return for this inspiring week!

Frederick, Maryland – GreenSpring Foundation is pleased to present the 2026 Maryland Summer Harp Institute Concert Series featuring internationally renowned soloists and outstanding young harpists who are the future of music.   • TBA- Salem Lutheran Church, Catonsville, MD - This is our grand finale for the week and your last chance to hear the Maryland Summer Harp Institute harp ensemble.

  • TBA- Harp & Soul, MSHI Harp Ensemble Concert in historic Ritchie Chapel. Join us for the final concert of the MSHI Harp Ensemble in the picturesque mountain-top community of Fort Ritchie. This is a concert you won’t want to miss. The Chapel has welcomed U.S. presidents and dignitaries and will resonate with the sound of harps at our final concert of the Institute.
