Originally from Maryland, Sarah Haines is a flute and piano teacher currently based in Richmond. Sarah has performed with ensembles such as the Richmond Symphony, Virginia Symphony Orchestra, Allentown Symphony Orchestra, and Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra, among others. During the 2019-2020 season, Sarah was a Music for Food Artist Fellow through which she taught masterclasses, gave presentations, and played in concerts around the Boston area to raise awareness and funds for fighting food insecurity. She was also honored to be a Texas Music Festival Fellow in Houston during the summer of 2019.

Sarah holds a Master of Music in Flute Performance from New England Conservatory, as well as a Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In North Carolina, Sarah worked with the outreach program, Musical Empowerment, to provide lessons and instruments to students from underserved areas.  She has also taught at the annual Flute Fever Summer Camp in Harwood, MD, and has been a guest masterclass teacher at The Rivers School Conservatory in Weston, MA. Sarah is grateful to her teachers and mentors, Diana Morgan, Cynthia Meyers, Jill Felber, and Brooks de Wetter-Smith.
