About

Nancy McClain is an emerging young artist and is excited to be a part of the GreenSpring team!

Ms. McClain studied at George Mason University where she graduated at the top of her class and received her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. While at Mason, Ms. McClain studied classical and jazz voice under wonderful educators such as Dr. Elissa Alvarez, Dr. Darden Purcell, Prof. John Aler, and Prof. Lisa Berger. She was also fortunate to be part of the University Chorale and University Singers during her time at Mason. Both choirs offered her wonderful opportunities to learn more about the world of music. She was part of yearly performances of Broadway favorites and was able to travel to Nairobi, Kenya with the University Chorale, under the direction of Dr. Lisa Billingham, to work and sing with choirs over there. Under the direction of Stan Engebretson of the University Singers and the National Philharmonic Chorale, Ms. McClain was able to work with and learn from leading musical artists and performers such as Eric Whitacre, the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, and The King’s Singers.

Ms. McClain has been singing since she was small and has always hoped to lead a career filled with music and performance. She was involved in youth choirs throughout her childhood and was actively involved in her school’s theater and band programs. Ms. McClain was a percussionist in band and played for 7 years in the marching, concert/symphonic, and jazz bands with tutelage from Mr. Keith Miller. Following 2020, Ms. McClain performed with the Victorian Lyric Opera Company in Rockville, MD, sung at the Kennedy Center with the Asian American Music Society under the direction of Dr. Mira Yang, and traveled to Todi, Italy to study and perform.

Ms. McClain currently sings at St. Thomas United Methodist Church in Manassas, VA. Here, under the direction of Dominick Izzo, Ms. McClain performs cantatas and cherished hymns with the choir as well as solos for special occasions. With the great examples and insight she has from her teachers, she is excited to teach others about vocal performance!
