In its 23rd year, the GreenSpring Summer Music Institute is pleased to announce the International Exchange East Coast Discovery Tour. After two intensive weeks of training in Richmond, VA in preparation for the tour, the experience will include a concert tour of the U.S. East Coast in collaboration with Former Royal Harpist Claire Jones, percussionist Chris Marshall and harpists of the Claire Jones International Harp School, UK. The GreenSpring Summer Chamber Music Institute and the GreenSpring Summer Choral Institute will perform together, providing rich ensemble experiences in world-renowned venues in Virginia, DC, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, Massachusetts and Maine. This tour promises to be an amazing adventure and the perfect opportunity to take musical and cultural understanding to a whole new level.

Welsh-born harpist Claire Jones, acclaimed for her “virtuosity, enthusiasm, and showmanship” (Daily Mail UK), became a household name in Britain and recognized around the world when she performed at the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at Buckingham Palace in April 2011. Claire Jones first came to international attention in 2007 when she was named official harpist to HRH The Prince of Wales; over the course of her four-year tenure she performed at over 180 royal engagements, including private recitals for the Queen. Jones’ career highlights include solo and concerto appearances with the world’s top orchestras and artists such as the English Chamber Orchestra, Mariinsky Theatre Ballet Orchestra, London Mozart Players and The American Youth Harp Ensemble to name a few.

Jones will also be accompanied by her husband, renowned percussionist Chris Marshall. Marshall has performed extensively as a percussionist specializing in World music and has appeared and recorded with many prestigious orchestras and artists, and on numerous productions on London’s West End. His career highlights as a percussionist include appearing with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, English National Ballet, London Mozart Players, The Royal Shakespeare Company and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.
