Austin Martin received a bachelor of music from the University of South Carolina. During his time at USC he studied percussion across a variety of disciplines including jazz, classical and world. All of these areas have given him the opportunity to become proficient across a wide range of percussion instruments including drumset, keyboard percussion, hand drums and steel pan.
His love for percussion has led to many great opportunities, including performing with the Birdsong Steel Orchestra for the 2016 Panorama music competition in Trinidad, under the direction of Andy Narell.
Austin also performs regularly in the Richmond area with groups Calvin Presents and Vanilla Summit, which have given him opportunities to play at the Richmond Jazz Festival, Richmond’s Friday Cheers, and local venues such as Gallery 5, The Camel, Vagabond and more.
